Our Mission
The Village of Hamilton Fire Department is committed to providing high-quality fire suppression and rescue services to the citizens within our fire protection district. As an all-volunteer, municipal fire department, we take great pride in the services that we provide to our community. Through our commitment to training, standards of professionalism, and appreciation of the trust that our community places upon our fire department, our members are always striving to improve our organization in order to continue serving the public as effectively as possible.
Our fraternal organization, Fountain Fire Company No. 1, is a non-profit volunteer organization that supports the fire department by supplying manpower and additional funding acquired through fundraising. Currently, the fire company has roughly 50 members, and its support is integral to our continued operational success. Almost half of those members are students at Colgate University, and it would be impossible to overstate their value to our fire department.
Per the 2020 U.S. Census, the Village of Hamilton’s population was 4,107, and the Hamilton Fire Department provides services to another several thousand citizens in the Towns of Hamilton, Lebanon, and Madison. Those services include responding to structure fires, motor vehicle accidents, and medical calls, in addition to a wide variety of other emergencies. Furthermore, we hold mutual aid agreements with several neighboring fire departments, which greatly improve our ability to share resources between our communities when responding to emergencies.
